Happy Thanksgiving Beloved!
1Ch 16:8-12 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
1Ch 16:23-31 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all nations. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Glory and honor are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.
This Thanksgiving, let us see the POWER and FORCE of being THANKFUL and EXALTING God. Look what this Old Testament scripture says! David is speaking thorough out it. Actually he is Singing a Prophetic Song of the Lord! What had taken place to cause this exuberance? Look back at the previous chapter:
1Ch 15:25 So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy. 1Ch 15:27-28 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bore the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen. Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.
David is exhorting through song to give thanks, to make known HIM, to Glory in the Lord, to rejoice. To GIVE Glory and Honour to God, to Worship Him in the beauty of Holiness. And to fear before Him. The outcome of this would be that the WHOLE EARTH would be STABLE! I can hear you now, “yeah, right Sister Nancy! The earth is NOT stable- the whole world has gone crazy!” Ahh, but God tells us to call those things that be not as though they are! David said by the Spirit, if we WOULD do this, the outcome would be stability. (See also Isa. 32:17.) Just like scripture says if they that are called by HIS Name would humble themselves and pray…(2Chron. 7:14)
Okay, back to this set of scripture! The word “fear” in vs 30 means this:
To twist, whirl, dance, to calve, writhe, fear, tremble, travail, be in anguish, be pained, to whirl, whirl about, to writhe (in travail with), bear, bring forth, to rest, to hope, to wait anxiously, to wait carefully and patiently, be made to bear, to be brought forth, to be born, to wait longingly, to trust. When a woman is in labor, all of the above apply. That word “fear” is really talking about worship, intercession and birthing!
The next word “stable” means this:
to be firm, be stable, be established, be set up, be fixed, to be firmly established, be secure, be enduring, be securely determined, to be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast, be ready, to be prepared, be arranged, be settled, accomplish, do, make firm, to fix, make ready, prepare, provide, provide for, furnish, to direct toward (moral sense), to arrange, order, to constitute, make, to fix, to direct, to be restored.
As we give thanks and remember all His wonderful deeds, and loving kindnesses to us and we Worship Him in reverential awe and we give ourselves up to love, intimacy will happen, pregnancy in the Spirit will occur and steadfast waiting for His timing and then intercession and travail and new things will pop upon the scene! And the world will reap the benefits of a people so in love with their God! As the people, so the nation… As the nations go, so
goes the world. We are His Body, by which He fills all things everywhere with Himself! (Eph. 1:23) There IS a trickle down and a cumulative effect when we ALL worship and give praise and thanksgiving and serve without reserve or hesitation. Declaring HE reigns… Declaring HIS goodness… Decreeing a thing, so that God can make it so. Preparing for our Bridegroom! All this coming from our Thanksgiving, Praise and Worship!
Glory to God! Let this Thanksgiving birth something new in you and through you! Amen.
